A SERIES of talks exploring Maldon’s history are set to come this summer.
The Maldon Society has released the schedule for three history talks to be held on video conferencing site Zoom over the next few months.
Today (May 6), Tim Howson, Maldon’s Conservation Officer, will be detailing the conservation work being carried out at Number 4 Silver Street, Maldon, opposite the Blue Boar Hotel.
The property is Grade-II listed and dates from the 16th and 17th centuries, with several later alterations.
The owner has retained specialist professionals to research the history and structure of the house.
On Thursday, June 3, television presenter, historian, and award-winning author Roger Tabor will be giving a talk titled The Lost Royal Buildings of Essex.
He will be looking at the royal links with Havering Palace, Beaulieu Palace, Audley End, King John’s Hunting Lodge and Barking Abbey as well as others.
On Thursday, July 1, Martin Cable BEM, Maldon watch manager for Essex Fire Service, will be the guest speaker.
More details on this talk will be revealed later this year.
All three talks begin at 4pm.
