A POPULAR film club has set a provisional date for its return to the big screen after months of lockdown.

Maldon Film Club will open its doors again on Wednesday, May 26.

Risk assessments have been taken so there is a Covid-safe environment.

Spokesman John Salisbury said: “Screenings will be offered to 2019/20 members only and will be free of charge.

“Given the audience for each screening will be limited to 30 seats, tickets will have to be booked in advance and the committee has put together a simple and accessible booking system.

“Further details will follow in the very near future. If any further screenings are planned, details will be announced well in advance.

“At present our 2021/22 season is scheduled to commence on September 7 and the 19 films to be screened will be those selected for the current season, including A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood, Bait, White Crow, Pain and Glory, Sorry We Missed You, Parasite, Jojo Rabbit, and A Taste of Honey.

“We look forward to reopening our doors in the not too distant future and to the return of one of Maldon’s most successful and well supported community groups.”

The first film will be Free Solo on May 26.
