RESIDENTS from the Maldon district have given their opinion on the worst roads in the area for speedsters.

As Essex Police respond to resident’s concerns of speeding vehicles, the Standard asked its readers which roads were considered trouble spots.

Here are some of the roads you suggested:

• Mill Road by Plume Academy, Maldon

• Mundon Road between the bypass and Wantz Road

• Market Hill, Maldon

• The Street, Steeple

• Spital Road, Maldon

Earlier this month, police were checking speeds in Tillingham and Stow Maries, where they caught one vehicle going 76mph in a 40mph zone.

They are still monitoring speeds in the district, being seen recently in Burnham Road, Latchingdon.

A police spokesman said: “Our officers from the Road Crime Team were in Latchingdon after concerns were raised by the community about drivers speeding through the village.

“Five drivers were stopped for doing 40mph in a 30mph limit.

“We will continue to monitor the area.”

Other villages are proactively trying to tackle the issue with Little Totham setting up its own traffic monitoring group.
