A PARISH council has turned a village “eyesore” into its new council offices.

Tiptree Parish Council has moved from its home in Mynott Court, in Church Road, to the former public toilets in Church Road.

Monday’s official opening, which took place yesterday (April 12) revealed the work that took place during the refurbishment of the old site, previously run by Colchester Council.

The parish took the building over in 2017. The new office replaces an eyesore which was gradually being vandalised, creating a poor impression at the centre of the village and will provide a public WC again.

The offices were opened by parish council chairman Roger Mannion, with members of staff and councillors present.

The old offices will shortly be sold off, and the cost of the build will be covered by the sale of the old premises.

This is now the second public toilet to open in Tiptree, where previously there were none.

Mr Mannion said: “There has been a real effort from Tiptree Parish Council in ensuring that this site which sits square in the centre of the village is no longer a blight on the landscape.

“After spending many years trying to find a suitable tenant that met the planning needs of Colchester Council, we were finally able to deliver an in-house solution that was acceptable to all.
