FOUR men will appear in court after two incidents involving weapons and firearms.

Police were called with reports of a group of men seen with weapons in Braintree on October 24 2018, before leaving in two cars, which were later found in Chelmsford.

Two days earlier, on October 22, a man suffered extensive injuries after being shot at an address in Warley Street, Great Warley.

Charlie Stutz, 22, of no fixed address, has been summonsed to court to face charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and having a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence, in connection with the incident in Warley.

He and three other men will also face charges in connection with the incident on 24 October.

Stutz and Brandon Garrett, 21, of no fixed address, will each face counts of possession of a loaded firearm in a public place, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and possession of a knife in a public place.

Clinton Smith, 31, of Queen Street, Maldon and Franky Rees, 29, of Durham Road, Southend, will each face three counts of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

Stutz and Garrett will also face charges of possession of false number plates for use in fraud and a non-dwelling burglary.

All four are due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on April 21.
