The Post Office in North Weald High Street will close next month.

The Post Office is currently run out of New Shop newsagents on High Street but a new location is being sought after the withdrawal of the premise for post office use.

It will be closed on Wednesday, February 17 at 4pm.

In a letter to residents, Anthony Bayley, the network provision lead at the Post Office, said: “The provision of a Post Office service to our customers in the local community is important to us, and we will continue to work hard to restore services in the area as soon as possible.

“I would like to assure you that we are working hard to keep any period of closure to a minimum and we are currently investigating the options available which will enable us to reinstate a Post Office service to the local community.”

A new location is being sought to host a post office in the area.

Mr Bayley added: “We would welcome any applications from potential retail partners interested in running a branch locally on our behalf.”

The vacancy is currently being advertised online at: www.runapostoffice.co.uk.

The two nearest alternative branches are Epping Post Office, High Street, Epping, and Potter Street Post Office, Prentice Place, Harlow.
