A well-known quiz master and radio presenter has completed his 60 year collection of chart topping singles thanks to a public appeal.

Kevin Briggs known as Maldon's 'Kind of Quizzes' for organising countless pub quizzes in the district, has collected every single in the Top 75 Chart since November 1952.

Last month he appealed to Essex resident to help him find the final three singles.

Now, the man behind The Maldon and District Quiz Leagues is thanking everyone for helping him complete the 265,000 strong collection.

Kevin said: "“I would like to say huge thank you to the people of Essex and to listeners of Caroline Community Radio 94.7 FM for the many, many offers of these singles I have received.

Kevin brought his first single ‘I Was Kaiser Bill’s Batman’ by Whistling Jack Smith during his DJ career and went on to buy and collect as many singles as he could.

He said: "With the introduction of CDs in the mid-80s. I started buying music in this format up to 2007 when I began downloading.

"I now have around 265,000 singles and albums on various formats in my collection and this increases weekly.

The collection grew so big, it outgrew his garage, so six years ago he had to make the decision to either reduce the size of his collection... or build an extension.

He said: "After a lot of thought I decided to go along with the extension, although it is now getting to the stage where it’s difficult to find space there.

His collection now boasts every single from 1953 to 2020 after his appeal to find the final three- Missguided' by Dyverse, ‘Take Me Home’ by Everstrong and ‘Soopa Hoopz’ by Soopa Hoopz.

Kevin presents the popular Pub Quiz and music programme every Thursday from 8-10pm on Caroline Community Radio.
