Tonight, the full council will meet for the first time since March, since then a lot has happened. So here is a breakdown.

Breaking code

Controversy first began when former council leader Adrian Fluker was found to have breached the councillors code of conduct.

An independent investigation was launched after complaints were made against him for making a 'throat-slit gesture' and saying 'Hello Sailor' to fellow councillor Richard Siddall.

In his official complaint, Mr Siddall said that Mr Fluker had subjected him to bullying, intimidation and homophobic behaviour over a sustained period.

Mr Fluker stood down as council leader after four years on the leadership team.

Councillors later voted to suspend Mr Fluker from sitting on council committees and working parties for 12 months.

Switch-up

Following the sanctions against Mr Fluker, cllr Siddall resigned from the conservative party.

He then joined the Independent Group a few days later.

Following the news he said: "“During the last couple of months when I have gone through this quite stressful time the independents have given me more support than the Conservative councillors.

“For certain councillors to bring forward a motion to make the sanctions more lenient in itself is not good."

Cllr Siddall wasn't the only one to join the Independents.

Cllr Chrissy Morris and councillor Kevin Lagen also joined the group last month, which gave the party the majority with 15 councillors.

New groups

Earlier this week four councillors formed a new 'Democratic Alliance Group', including former leader Adrian Fluker.

He was joined by Cllr Bob Boyce, Cllr Richard Dewick and Cllr Michael Helm.

All four of them are previous members of the Conservative group.

Who has majority?

The Independents still have the majority with 15 councillors.

The Conservatives currently have ten, and there is one non-aligned councillor after the formation of the 'Democratic Alliance Group' who have four.
