Key positions in a council are set to be decided next week.
A Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Maldon District Council will be elected in a meeting of the full council meeting on Thursday (November 5).
The meeting was postponed in May due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The council elected Conservative councillor Elaine Bamford as interim leader earlier this month.
Speaking after her election she said: ""I want to go forward positively and proactively on behalf of the community we serve, and put behind us the complaint and blame culture that has been so damaging in the press.”
However, following a number of resignations, the Indepedent Group now have the majority with 15 councillors.
There are nine Conservative councillors and six non-aligned councillors.
