A charity has joined forces with a local radio station to help create stronger ties in the community.

The new partnership between The Salvation Army and Chelmer Radio will allow residents to keep up-to-date with the latest news and offers via a live broadcast in The Salvation Army Charity Shop on Maldon High Street.

Kevin Jennings, Maldon charity shop manager, said: "This year, more than ever, it has been a privilege and pleasure to work with Lieutenant Jon Doyle from the local Salvation Army church, and to support the community with all the different projects we have worked on such as food deliveries, and the VE Day celebrations.

"This is an excellent opportunity for us to work with Chelmer Radio and celebrate all the fantastic work that goes on in the community.

"We are really excited to be launching this partnership before Christmas which is an incredibly busy time for us.

David Baker from Chelmer Radio said: “We have been looking for a platform in Maldon for a while to promote the radio station and the Salvation Army’s work in the town has never gone unnoticed, their work in the community is incredible and they help so many people and do change lives.

"We are keen and really delighted to showcase this with our partnership."
