This week we have been looking through our photos of Cumbria police around the Penrith area.
Carleton Hall at Penrith is the headquarters of the Cumbria Constabulary and once was the home of the Carleton family. Dring the first half of the 20th century it was the home of the Carleton-Cowper family and during the war was occupied by the Furze Close School.
During the way, the hall was occupied from 1940-43 by Furze Close School and from 1943-46 it was a military hospital and became the headquarters of the Cumberland & Westmorland Constabulary in May 1950.
The northern part of Carleton Hall’s grounds are now divided between the Pategill housing estate and the Penrith Rugby Club.
The force has strong community links as our photos show assisting with youth groups and road safety in the area.
Staff members have also been keen fundraisers for local charities with our photographers on hand to record the events.
