THE Government did not release a coronavirus death toll update on Tuesday, saying “technical difficulties” had got in the way.

It has launched a new service to display the data, but the number of deaths and cases will not be updated until Wednesday – after months of daily figures.

Public Health England said: “Owing to technical difficulties with data processing, the England and UK deaths data are not expected to be updated today.”

But the NHS did publish a hospital deaths figure on Tuesday.

While the national death toll was 46,526 on Monday, no new deaths were reported in Sussex and the county’s figures stayed the same.

The total number of deaths at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust stands at 148. The last was reported on July 12.

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust has reported 100 deaths overall. The latest was reported on August 2.

Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust’s toll is 260.

It has not reported a death since July 15.

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust has reported 18 deaths in total. The last death at the trust was on June 3.

Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has reported 113 deaths overall.

No deaths have been reported at the trust since June 7.
