New subscribers can now sign up to an additional waste collection.

Maldon District Council announced that new subscribers can once again sign up to its popular garden waste collection service.

An additional vehicle and crew have been introduced to the collection fleet, giving extra capacity and allowing more residents to make use of the service.

Last year, the service reached full capacity and the decision was make to stop offering the service to new subscribers.

Since then, the council has been working closely with contractors, Suez Recycling and Recovery UK, to agree a solution which would allow the service to be expanded and ensure that as many people as possible are able to join the service.

Councillor Adrian Fluker, Leader of Maldon District Council, said: "I am delighted that we can once again offer the garden waste collection service to new subscribers.

"This proves to be a very popular service that is convenient for gardeners and excellent value for money.

"We hope that the service continues to be a useful one and encourage anyone who would like to sign up to visit www.maldon.gov.uk/waste to find out more."
