Regarding the proposed Bradwell B nuclear development, I wish to make the following points:

An educator in the area has stated to me that this district is a hotspot for childhood leukaemia.

To date I am not aware of any Government studies on comparative rates of the incidences of childhood or adult leukaemia in areas surrounding nuclear power plants and the country in general. All lives should matter and studies should be available to residents before consultations take place.

Nuclear power is not the way forward for most nations. If a country in the so-called third world can provide all its electrical needs with hydro-electric generation having far less coastal and river resources, why can’t the UK look into using its technological expertise in a non-nuclear manner?

The 1986 disaster in Chernobyl covered an area with a radius of 19 miles, with contamination reaching the hills of Scotland and Wales. Any consultation taken here should cover at least that conservative radius, which would include Chelmsford, Witham, Southend, Clacton, Canvey Island and Manningtree, in order to be inclusive and valid.

Has the UK government given up on security and morality, when its own ministers admit to Chinese internet hacking, fake accounts and veiled “suggestions” not to speak out against Chinese human rights violations?

Coastal flooding is a certain feature of earth’s future. Did the Government learn nothing from Fukushima Daiichi?

Judging by the well-founded comments on Bradwell B which have appeared, the Government has forgotten the definition of “consultation” in favour of narrow monetary gain.
