THE heartbroken owner of a Miniature Pinscher who was killed by a Staffordshire bull terrier at the weekend is warning others to stay alert while out walking.

Natasha Pitts was walking her dog Minnie in Sankey Valley Park on Friday morning when a Staffordshire bull terrier ran towards her.

She said: "It was completely unprovoked and I was terrified the dog was going to attack me too.

"Luckily I didn't have my daughter with me.

"A bystander phoned the police and other people tried to perform CPR on my dog, but sadly was there no response.

"The other Staffordshire bull terrier was on a caution lead with the owner.

"I've shared the incident on social media and here lots of people have said the woman's dogs have attacked and killed before."

Natasha has reported the incident to police and dog wardens.

She added: "I would hate for this to happen to anyone else and just want to try and make everyone aware and alert as next time it might not be a dog attacked, it could be a child."
