A WOMAN is looking to thank a man who helped save her husband’s life after he collapsed in Maldon town centre.

The woman, who wants to remain anonymous, is looking to thank the man who helped her husband when he slumped to the ground in Maldon High Street on May 19.

Her husband became ill outside Prezzo at about 5.20pm but the couple are unsure how long he was unconscious for, or even why he collapsed.

His wife said: “He popped down town on May 19 and he collapsed outside Prezzo but we don’t know how long for or whether this person caught him.

“My husband thinks he is about 20 and he recalls him saying ‘I’m so sorry I touched you’, obviously in the current climate.

“He asked my husband if he wanted him to call an ambulance but my husband refused as our daughter was waiting for him.

“I am shielding so he drove home and I called 111 and they sent an ambulance.

“He has a bad leg anyway and we had contacted our GP before because we thought it was blood clots, but they said it wasn’t.

“It turned out my husband has a bilateral pulmonary embolism – clots in both lungs – and also one in his leg.

“The doctors have said he is lucky to be alive.

“We are still not out of the woods yet because my husband went into hospital on the Tuesday and came out on the Friday as he wasn’t considered a medical emergency anymore, but we are still waiting on some scans and results.

“We would just like to thank whoever helped save his life.”

The woman added: “We would also like to let him know that my husband doesn’t have Covid-19 because he might be worried about that.”

If you think you can help, let us know.
