A Rotary Club has given £1,000 towards the production of a Children’s Book.
Maldon Rotary Club has awarded a the grant to The Thames Sailing Barge Trust to go towards the production of a Children’s Activity Book.
The book will be used to help provide details on the history of Thames sailing barges along with those the Trust owns.
The Trust aims to improve the understanding of the public as to the historic and cultural role of Thames Sailing Barges.
The Activity book forms part of the outcomes of the Trust’s Heritage Lottery Award and is suitable for children between the ages of give and 11 years and has been designed to meet the requirements of key stage one and two learning in primary schools.
The booklet will be provided free of charge to children who visit the Trust’s barges on open days.
The Trust are keen to continue involving younger children in the history and are working on a programme of activities, including school visits which will be rolled out later in the year.
