The first telephone surgeries have taken place as part of the first stage of consultation into a new nuclear power plant.

Experts from the Bradwell B Project, have taken part in its first telephone surgeries in support of their Stage One Consultation.

The 20-minute surgeries have been introduced as an extra measure to make sure that anyone with questions about the project can put them directly to the team.

Head of Communications, Kate Stinton said: "When we took the decision to discontinue face-to-face consultation events because of Covid-19, we wanted to make sure all members of the community could still find out about Bradwell B and have a say in the consultation.

"Telephone surgeries are a new way for people to ask us questions on top of the more traditional routes of email, letter or regular phone call."

The surgeries are one of several ways to give members of the community the opportunity to find out more about the plans. Bradwell B’s website has also undergone an upgrade to feature a new user-friendly virtual exhibition, while packs of consultation information and newsletters have been sent to over 40,000 homes nearest to the site.

Development Director, Andrew Murdoch is one of the project experts taking the calls, he said: "The telephone surgeries are a great way of making sure people have access to the people responsible for the proposals.

"My team have already had a number of conversations with members of our neighbouring communities, which has been incredibly useful to understand people’s interests and concerns.

"If you’re interested and want to know more please do contact us to arrange your own session."

The consultation was recently extended by 5 weeks, now closing on Wednesday 1st July.
