Judy Lea (quoted in your article last week) is concerned that decisions relating to Bradwell 2 (BRB) may be taken too hastily.

That would be entirely in keeping with the Government’s blinkered and lemming-like approach to this project (and to other major project such as HS2 and Hinkley Point) regardless of the obvious case for a rethink.

It is now quite clear that renewable sources of energy are cheaper than nuclear.

The only argument for nuclear is the scale of prospective demand for electricity in the light of Government’s self-imposed goals for eliminating CO2 emissions and electrification of almost everything.

This ignores the scope and in fact urgent need to take radical steps to reduce overall demand for energy - a sizeable chunk of which is used in the processing and manufacture of the myriad items we take for granted in our unsustainable, consumption and fashion-obsessed society.

As to why Bradwell has become such a priority in the nuclear programme, when it was not mentioned in the original list of five sites, that is a question for our MPs to answer.
