WORLD Book Day came again this year and everyone got into the spirit.

Everyone from tots to teens dressed up for the big day and even teachers got involved.

Classic characters such as Harry Potter and Waldo made multiple appearances.

One child had an interesting idea by dressing up as an actual book.

A spokesman for Purleigh Primary, which was among the schools taking part, said: “There was an array of book characters to be seen at the school and favourite books or stories were shared.

“The children’s appetites had been whetted earlier in the week with a reading celebration assembly.

“This was followed by a visit from author Gwyneth Rees who spoke about being a writer, from the early days at school to having her books published.

“It was a super Book Week and a marvellous opportunity to develop the children’s love of reading.”

World Book Day is an annual event organised by the United Nations to promote reading among children.
