BUDDING singers took a trip to participate in the largest school choir in the world last week.

Teacher Sarah Gough and teaching assistant Andrea Richardson, from Tollesbury School, took the group of 12 children from Years 3-6 to the O2 Young Voices concert.

There were more 8,000 children participating in the mass choir, singing to their parents and carers.

Mrs Gough said: “I have taken the choir three times now and it’s such a great experience for the children.

“It is a long day, but the children get to experience being in an arena, singing together with others.

“The experience also involves meeting others from all over London.

“You go and rehearse all together first with the band, then the show gets put on in the evening as a mass school choir.

“The show this year had Tony Hadley, The Voice winner Ruti, the Shires and Urban Strides, a dance group.

“The children sung songs from Queen to pop medleys.

“They joined in with the Shires’ chorus and Ruti’s chorus.

“There were also original songs that had been written for the show.”
