Angry residents say nothing has been done to fix water issues allegedly caused by a jam factory.

The Nine Acres estate on Factory Road, Tiptree, was built more than a year ago by developers Crest Nicholson.

Wilkin & Sons came under fire last year when it was accused of draining all the water from the system to make its preserves.

But residents claim the issues have not been resolved.

One wrote on Facebook: “Not for the first time I’m bringing up the issue we’re having with water pressure problems on the new Nine Acres estate.

“Surely the developers and Anglian Water should have realised that Wilkin & Sons needed to fill their water tanks up at certain times, thus culminating in us not being able to take a shower or fill a bath with hot water during the day.

“What do Anglian Water do about it, even though it has been raised with them on numerous occasions – absolutely nothing.

“It’s a shame because we love living in Tiptree and everyone is so friendly, but this problem has been ongoing for the past 15 months now.

“We’ve been here for 14 months and I can assure, the issue hasn’t been sorted.

“Crest blame Anglian Water, Anglian Water blame the jam factory, and even though it’s been raised in the local press and on local TV, still we have to suffer a substandard service.

“We’re just fed up with it and looking to move away.”

Sabrina Barnham, 25, of Tiptree, moved to the estate a year ago with her three-year-old child and now has a six-month-old baby.

She said: “This past week my water has been awful. What is meant to be maybe a five-minute shower is now 15 to 20 minutes.

“The water is just so slow, then in the evening it speeds right up.

“It’s terrible. The last time we had this problem it was to do with the jam factory.

“For a while the problem seemed to have sorted but now it’s back to the same slow running water.

“I wouldn’t know if it’s them again, but as I have two young children and myself, it’s frustrating to wait ages.”

An Anglian Water spokesman said: “We’ve got monitors on the system that monitor the water pressure and all the recordings of pressures from the area are fine.

“Our team haven’t spotted any issues through our monitoring during the past week, however if people are having issues with their water pressure then we urge them to get in contact with us.”

A Crest Nicholson spokesman said: “We are aware some of our Nine Acres residents have been impacted by water pressure issues in the Tiptree area, due to old infrastructure operated by the local water company.

“We have been in contact with Anglian Water, on our residents’ behalf, who have advised works have been completed to upgrade the infrastructure and resolve this issue.”

Chris Newenham, joint managing director of Wilkin & Sons, said: “Wilkin & Sons are actively working to reduce their water usage.

“While overall our food production continues to increase, our water use is actually decreasing, down four per cent in January 2020 on January 2019.

“We urge Anglian Water as the utility provider to ensure the needs of all our neighbours are met as a matter of urgency.”
