A TEENAGER has appeared in court after breaking into a world-famous jam factory.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, went into Wilkin & Sons in Tiptree last October.

He admitted entering as a trespasser with intent to steal and failing to surrender to custody at a youth hearing, sitting at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court.

The boy, who is from the Colchester area, was referred to the youth offender panel for a six-month contract of behaviour to be drawn up.

He must pay £126 in court charges.
