BUDDING climbers are set to take on a 1,345-metre, iconic Scottish mountain in a bid to boost cash for mental health.

Maldon-based financial planning company TFP is taking on the 2020 Challenge to raise £2,020 by hiking up the Ben Nevis.

The funds they raise will go to Mid and North East Essex Mind – a mental healthy charity offering advice, support, and counselling.

A 12-strong team, made up of staff and clients, hope to reach the highest point in the UK, Ben Nevis, on June 28.

Julie Arthur, of Mid and North East Essex Mind, said: “We are delighted to be working with TFP and supporting them with their fundraising throughout the year.

“I am confident that they will smash their 2020 Challenge target with their Ben Nevis trek as well as raise awareness of mental health.

The trek takes place over three days, covering nine miles before finishing at the summit 1,345m – 4,409ft – above sea level and requires plenty of stamina and determination.

Dan Haylett, financial planner at TFP, said: “As someone who has personally experienced mental health issues over the last couple of years, I am delighted that we are able to help and support Mid and North East Essex Mind.

“They do fantastic work in the local community which I have experienced first-hand, and I’m thrilled that we can help them so that they can continue to support people with mental health problems when they most need it.”
