HUNDREDS of thrilled panto fans hissed and booed as they witnessed the latest production of a classic children’s story.

Maldon Pantomime Society saw another hugely successful year as crowds turned up for their Wizard of Oz spectacular.

Members of cast have been working on their production throughout the year and were “exhilarated” to finally perform over two weekends.

A spokesman said: “The show went fantastically well

“It was completely sold out – almost 1,200 people came to see it.

“We had great feedback from the audience. Lots of them said they wanted to come back and see it again. Everyone said they laughed so much.

“The children were all in awe of the colourful costumes and scenery and fully invested in the story unfolding on stage.

“Everyone had a great time – the cast, junior chorus and backstage crew. So many volunteers joined in to help put on this amazing show.”

As the most popular pantomime in Maldon, the group will now start planning and preparations for next year’s performance.

Pantomime-goer Kaley South said it was an “amazing” show.

“My four year old Harry absolutely loved it,” she said.

“He says when he’s big he wants to sing and dance and make people happy.”

Director Kevin Dawson-Jennings said: “Thank you so much to everyone for the support year after year.”
