I went to Colchester Hospital on January 4. I was having a job to breathe and was hot and cold.

My son drove me and my wife was with us.

As soon as I got there I was seen straight away and I was in the walk-in centre.

I was seen by a nurse who examined me and I asked her about the Christmas meal which they normally get and was told they had not worked hard enough (how sad.)

I was transferred to A and E. Very soon, I was put on a drip of antibiotics, etc. I was kept in a one-day special ward. I went home the next day thanks to my wife and son.

At all times, I was treated with respect and great kindness.

The nurses do a great job and are underpaid compared to footballers.

We have a wonderful health service. If anyone knocks it, they should to go to Canada where my son is living. If you have not got the right insurance, you do not get treated. Well done, NHS. They should be better looked after. I know they don’t have a great deal of money to play with, but this must be a Government priority.
