I WAS in Colchester Hospital’s A&E for about six hours on a Saturday with my husband, who needed urgent treatment.
I was astounded at how calm the nurses were when a very abusive man arrived with a bruised foot.
He shouted at the nurses and doctors most of the time, trying to get attention, saying he hadn’t been given anything to eat.
Well, nor had we, but we didn’t complain.
He was so abusive to them about everything and I admired the way they keep very calm and eventually found a sandwich for him which he then became angry about.
The nurses and doctors are working in such a small cramped space for all the patients they need to cope with.
They absolutely should not have to cope with someone who is cross with life and hungry.
I saw him later having fun on a hospital wheelchair with a friend.
