REVELLERS enjoyed an afternoon of quirky entertainment thanks to a Steampunk-themed Christmas event.

Frozen in Time took place at the Museum of Power in Langford and saw visitors and enthusiasts enjoy the festive atmosphere.

There was a mix of timeless historical engineering, Victorian science fiction and Father Christmas.

A spokesman said: “The seasonal entertainment was opened on the stage with a tea-duelling competition compered by the museum’s resident Steampunk scientist and magician Dean Allen-Jones and thespian Darren Gooding.

“This was followed by Christmas Burlesque Ladies, Hells Bells morris dancers for a morris dance with a difference and the seasonally dressed Soluna Dancers. Meanwhile the Colchester Saxophone Quartet brought the main museum building alive, playing by the biggest working steam engine, Marshall, and they were followed by a museum volunteer, Roger Barnes, playing Christmas tunes on his accordion.

“A Steampunk market offered a very wide range of gifts for all ages, Essex Wildlife ensured we knew how to look after our pets and wild animals in this cold weather and Magic the Dragon warmed the atmosphere as he greeted all enjoying the day.”
