One of the highlights of the Christmas calendar is returning to Burnham’s streets this weekend.

This year’s Burnham Festive Fayre, organised by the carnival committee, will be returning to the town’s high street on Saturday from 3pm until 7pm.

It will include a street full of food, music, and entertainment to bring out the Christmas spirit.

Organiser Kelvin Cole said: “The Christmas Fayre has become one of the best events in Burnham and it brings the community together at the magical time of Christmas.

“The carnival committee started running the Christmas Fayre in 2017 it has grown each year and got better and better.

“The event is marshalled by our wonderful volunteer carnival committee.

“If we did not have them, the event wouldn’t happen.

“There’s a lot of organising and hard work in the background that people don’t see so please thank our marshals if you see them.”

The event will feature artists Amanda Poll and Serena Grant singing, and there will also be a performance by the Epic Dance troupe.

The fayre will be followed by the hugely anticipated Christmas tree lighting ceremony.

There will also be a carol service which will be attended by councillors and residents, with a small reading carried out by Churches Together.

Santa will be arriving at around 5.15pm to see the children.

Olaf the snowman from Frozen will also be there along with lots of festive stalls, fair rides, a cosy log fire and Christmassy food and drinks.

Wayne Martin, another organiser, said: “We would also like to thank David Wilson Homes for sponsoring a marquee so we can get a few extra stalls in this year.

“Make sure you all wrap up warm and come and join us from 3pm.”

Kelvin added: “On behalf of the carnival committee I would like to wish the people of Burnham and the Dengie a very merry Christmas and a great new year.”
