A CHARITY lunch held by a sailing club has raised hundreds of pounds for a day care centre.

The November charity soup lunch held at Maldon Little Ship Club raised £415.

A cheque was presented to Action for Family Carers which has its office and day centre at Brickhouse Farm in Maldon.

Diana Rogers, who organises the lunches, said: “We chose this charity as we recognise what fantastic work they do to support carers, both old and young, within our local community and across Essex.

“Without their professional services of providing information, counselling, befriending and respite care, the job of being a carer could become intolerable.

“I was very impressed with the friendly, stimulating and supportive atmosphere of the day care centre.

“Here, people who are the responsibility of the carers can go for respite care, giving their carers the opportunity to have a well-deserved break from their routine caring role.

“The day centre provides attendees with a cooked lunch and the opportunity to enjoy some stimulating entertainment in company with others.”

The next soup lunch at Maldon Little Ship Club will be on Tuesday, January 14 with proceeds going to Essex Wildlife Trust.
