A mum whose daughter died of an undiagnosed heart condition held a fundraiser in aid of a charity tackling heart issues.

Kate Bome held the black-tie event to raise money for the Charlotte Adams Memorial Fund, a charity she set up to help others avoid the same tragedy.

The ball was held at the Lion Inn in Boreham and raised more than £10,000 for the fund.

Kate said: “I am so grateful to everyone who enabled us to raise such an incredible amount of money at this year’s Remembering Charlotte fundraiser.

“This year’s event was particularly poignant as it was held on the fifth anniversary of Charlotte’s death. To raise £10,000 was fantastic and we can’t wait to put the money to work to help save lives.”

The event was hosted by comedian Paul Eastwood, with live music from vocalist Keeley Smith and entertainment from DJ Jon Colley.

A spokesman said: “The event went with a swing.

“A beautiful tribute to Charlotte Adams was played during the evening, bringing tears to many eyes, as photographs of Charlotte’s life were shared on a big screen.

“Charlotte was a truly beautiful person – inside and out.”

Charlotte died in November 2014, age 23, from what doctor’s believed was a condition she had from birth.

Mum Kate, who has worked at Great Totham Primary School since 1998, also funded two lifesaving defibrillators for the village this month.

They were installed in Great Totham Village Hall and the primary school, places she says Charlotte had fond memories of when she was alive.

Kate added: “Charlotte was a healthy young adult with her whole life ahead of her and she died in her sleep for no reason.

“Fundraising for her and the defibrillators is like putting her name everywhere.”

She has also recently joined forces with the Mulberry Spa, in Wickham Bishops, to fundraise for a third defibrillator to be placed in the village centre, and hosted a cake sale at Great Totham Primary School on Tuesday.
