A SIX-YEAR-OLD girl is appealing for people to donate Christmas presents to give to children in need over the festive season.

Big-hearted Darcey Strutt, of Burnham, is running another Christmas campaign after she received massive support for her efforts last year.

The young fundraiser, who attends Burnham County Primary, will boost children’s charities Brainwave, Kids Inspire, and Havens Hospice with the toy donations collected from the public.

Mum Jade said: “Darcey did her first Christmas Present Appeal last year and managed to collect over 100 gifts.

“She decided she wanted to do something for children who may be less fortunate than her after going to the Burnham Carnival and seeing people collecting money in their charity buckets.

“She became curious as to what happened to the money once it was collected and began to ask questions.

“Darcey is a very caring, kind and compassionate person who, once she has something in her mind set to do, will make sure she sees it through until the end.

“Her aim is to try to beat the number of gifts she managed to donate to the charities last year.

“As a family we are very proud of Darcey and how kind and thoughtful she is.

“She has received some donations so far and we would like to say a huge thank you to everybody who has helped, whether it be by donating or helping to spread the word and advertise.”

Jade says Darcey is already planning to continue her Christmas present appeal in the future.

She added: “We would love to be able to donate as much as we can when we go to drop off, so all donations would be greatly appreciated.

“It would be amazing if anyone would like to get involved and buy a gift for a child.

“Just think how lucky we actually are compared to some others and help by spreading a little Christmas spirit.”

Donations can include toys for children 0-16 years of age.
