A BRIDGE which has been closed for several months is now set to be reopen in time for Christmas.

Mundon Wash Bridge, which has seen works since April, now has set a completion date after a small delay.

A spokesman said: “Recent progress includes construction of the base slab and both wingwalls on the north side of the structure.

“The construction of both central deflectors is complete and we are now in the process of constructing the parapet beams.

“However, due to factors beyond our control, the programme has been delayed and works are expected to be completed by Sunday, December 22.

Efforts are being made to complete the work and reopen the road as soon as possible.

As part of the final phase, in early December there will be a six-day ‘curing’ period while concrete sets.

During that time, minimal activities will take place on site so the process is not disturbed.

During the final week there will be no pedestrian or bicycle access due to heavy vehicles and machinery moving.
