A MALDON charity will receive an early Christmas present when the Essex Police Choir puts on a festive performance next month.

The David Randall Foundation will receive a cheque from Chief Constable BJ Harrington at the choir's popular Christmas Concert.

The charity was set up in memory of inspirational Maldon cricketer David Randall, who died of cancer in 2012, aged just 27.

Chelmsford-based charity Kids Inspire will also receive a cheque at the concert, which is expected to be a sell-out.

This first half of the concert sees the choir performing music from this year’s repertoire and the second half is carols and Christmas music.

It takes place at Trinity Methodist Church, on Rainsford Road, Chelmsford, on December 14 at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £10, including mince pies and a drink, and are available from tickets@essexpolicechoir.co.uk or on 01245 609968.
