A request for the erection of a shed at 79 Brook Road has been approved by Maldon District Council. But a single-storey extension at Honeycombe Farm, Honeypot Lane, has been refused by them.

The erection of two detached dwelling houses at 17 Strawberry Lane was given councillors' support.

The parish has requested a vehicle- activated sign at the junction of Brook Road and The Hawthorns. This will shortly be available, but Essex County Council has advised that this sign is to be rotated between four parishes, and therefore will only be in situ for three months of the year. A request for further signs will be placed on the locally determined budget for consideration next year.

The Village Hall Management Committee advised that following rowdy and disruptive behaviour by a local football club using the village hall in June, the hall will only be hired out again if the event is totally alcohol-free and policed by those hiring the hall.

Paving slabs have recently been installed by the changing rooms to rectify the muddy area there.

Essex Police have advised that there is currently a shortage of PCSOs in the district, although it is hoped to recruit three more in the New Year. The police welcome any comments that the public may have on neighbourhood policing teams, and these should be addressed to Craig Robertson, chief inspector at Maldon police station, on 852255.

The parish council is to arrange for a risk assessment to be carried out on the playing field in Top Road. Work has recently been carried out on the trees in the field.

The website is currently being revamped. There have been over 5,000 hits on the site since it was first set up.

SOCIAL EVENING

The Village Hall Management Committee will be holding a social evening to include a race night in the village hall on Saturday November 10. The evening commences at 7.30pm. Please take along your own food and drink.
