A MURDER mystery event saw an exciting twist after a man proposed to his partner.

The Museum of Power in Langford had a successful evening of solving riddles and finding clues at a Sherlock Holmes themed evening.

The highlight of the night was a surprise marriage proposal between two guests.

Museum manager Debbie Thomas said: “On a chilly Friday evening in Langford, with no knowledge of what the night would truly bring, a group of visiting sleuths helped Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson successfully solve the mystery case of ‘Murder at the Museum’.

“Upon arrival, the guest’s minds were tested with an opening quiz only to then be confronted with news of a theft.

“The victim moved forward with his hands round his throat, coughing as he fell to the floor.

“Despite those around him quickly loosening his collar, the victim had no time to say who his murderer was.”

A three-course dinner was served by staff at the Steam Pump Tea Room, who were deemed not to be guilty and were cleared from the inquiry.

Debbie said it was a night to remember.

She said: “Despite many twists and turns in the plot, the evening culminated in Sherlock and Dr Watson cleverly identifying the murderer.

“The museum proudly hosted a successful proposal of marriage from Chris Baker to Caroline Hirst, making it a truly special evening.”
