CARE home staff have climbed more than 3,000 feet to raise enough money to buy life-changing dementia-friendly equipment.

A group of seven people from Latchford care village, Belong Warrington, are hoping to raise £5,000 following a climb up England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike.

Any funds will be used to buy Vecta Deluxe sensory equipment which provides stimulation to those unable to engage in other activities.

It turns a room into a therapeutic environment for people receiving end-of-life care or those living with dementia.

Obtaining a Vecta Deluxe has been part of a series of fundraising activities across a number of Belong Villages, including sponsored climbs and long-distance bike challenges.

Rachel Pepperdine, experience coordinator at Belong Warrington, said: "Hiking up Scafell Pike was a rewarding challenge, as we were able to begin raising money to provide our customers with equipment that helps to improve their quality of life.

"The results from our other villages using such equipment have been really encouraging, therefore I think we will find this a real boon in our support for those living with dementia."
