A MENTAL health charity is taking part in a community initiative to keep people active and support their mental health.
Mid and North East Essex Mind is partnering with RED January.
The month-long initiative encourages people to get active every day to support their mental health.
Participants can walk, run, cycle or swim – the aim is to get moving daily while raising awareness and support for mental health.
Jenny MacPherson, community partnerships fundraiser at Mind, said: “RED January is founded on research that shows physical activity can have a positive impact on your mental wellbeing and even reduce symptoms of mental illness such as depression and anxiety.
“January can sometimes be a particularly difficult time for those who struggle with their mental health, so this challenge can really help give you something positive to focus on.”
The money raised will go directly towards supporting the charity’s services in the community.
