WHEN the 2019 Maldon Carnival got called off last year, the town was in turmoil.
Seeing one of Maldon’s most popular events get cancelled due to a lack of support was heartbreaking for organisers and visitors.
But for such a big event the ‘use it or lose it’ rule applies.
With not enough volunteers signing up, it is no surprise organisers called it off.
The fact about 20 volunteers have come forward to sit on next year’s carnival committee is music to our ears.
It shows residents understand the significance of this event and it is proof of real community spirit.
Having the carnival back on the calendar will do great things for the town.
