A monthly group dedicated to learning about Maldon will be revealing all about the town’s picturesque coastline.

The Maldon Society will be meeting next week to engage in a ‘The only coastal way is Essex’ talk which will discuss Essex’s coast.

Tony Tuckwell, the author of many books including ‘New Hall and its School’ and ‘History of Chelmsford Cathedral’, will be the highly anticipated guest speaker this month.

He was headmaster of King Edward VI Grammar School for 15 years between 1984 and 1999 and is an experienced speaker at history groups throughout Essex and beyond since his retirement.

A spokesman said: “This will be an informative and interesting talk which will give many details of the Essex coastline which is almost 350 miles long and has 19 islands.

“Please come along to hear the interesting facts relating to our area.”

It will be held in the Cygnet Room behind the Swan Hotel, High Street, Maldon on November 7.

The doors open at 7.15pm and entry for members is free, but visitors are requested to make a £3 donation.
