A TEA shop is opening its doors once again for another friendship group meeting to prevent people from feeling lonely.

The Kindness in a Cup group was set up by Suzie Pugh, from Maldon, and meets once a month so people can have a cup of tea and a chat.

It is designed to help people who may otherwise feel isolated.

The group has been running for two years and this year Suzie is hoping to see even more new faces join the network of friends.

She said: “I set this group up two years ago with the aim of creating a friendly community for people to come to – a way to make friends or just pop in for a cuppa and a chat.

“I originally set up the Catch-Up Cafe in Chelmsford which is based on the same idea and it’s been running successfully for eight years now.

“I firmly believe that when people feel connected, included and with a sense of belonging, it really improves emotional well-being.

“Kindness in a Cup is a welcoming friendship group that’s been running for two years and is a popular, friendly group.

“All different people attend, of all ages, men and women.

“Some lovely friendships have been formed and it’s a place of support and community.

“We have regular attendees plus people who just pop in as and when they wish.”

The friendship group is held at Suzie’s Gift and Tea Shop, on Maldon High Street, on the first Tuesday of each month from 10am to noon.
