A CHARISMATIC and hugely talented American singer and guitarist will be performing at a blues night in Maldon next month.

Lisa Mills hails from Mississippi and has performed worldwide, sharing stages with some of the biggest names from the world of blues and rock.

Described by Robert Plant as having a “wonderful voice”, the songwriter, guitarist and live performer will be making her way to Maldon’s Blue Boar on Silver Street.

The evening will showcase her sharp, soulful, slightly raspy southern American voice, which wraps itself around old blues tunes, jazz standards, country songs and soul classics.

Promoter and Burnham musician Tim Aves said: “I’ve had the good fortune to hear Lisa perform a few times – and even, on one memorable occasion, to share a stage with her.

“I have to say she is one of the very best, most engaging singers I have ever seen or heard in any genre.

“As soon as I heard she was coming to Europe this autumn, I grabbed the chance to book her for the Blue Boar.”

The show is on Friday, November 8 and doors open at 8.30pm.

Advance tickets for the show are £12 and on sale now from BATB Promotions.
