Maldon Film Club started a new season this month with a screening of the highly acclaimed Green Book followed by the award-winning Japanese film Shoplifters.
Film enthusiasts will continue to host a variety of critically-acclaimed films for people to enjoy throughout the season.
Their next showing is on Tuesday with a screening of The Guilty, winner of 35 awards at film festivals across the world, including Best Actor and Best Director.
It has been described by Empire Magazine as “a claustrophobic thriller, which is tautly plotted, precisely paced and grippingly played by Jakob Cedergren and his unseen co-stars”.
The Danish film features Asger, a Copenhagen cop who receives a call from a frightened woman who has been abducted by her ex-husband.
When the call is suddenly disconnected, the search for the woman and her kidnapper begins.
Acting on instinct and hoping that success will bolster his case at a disciplinary hearing, Asger takes matters into his own hands.
Other films to be featured in November will include the award-winning Can You Ever Forgive Me? and the powerful Polish drama Cold War, which won the Best Director award at Cannes in 2018.
Tickets cost £3 per person or £25 per person for an annual subscription.
