A PROJECT bringing together younger and older generations has gained recognition from Cambridge University.
The Maldon UP! project was launched by All Saints’ Primary School in Maldon as part of its ‘Shine’ curriculum.
It involves school children visiting older people at a care home once a week and doing activities with them.
Now in its third year, the project is being researched by Anglia Ruskin University to look into the benefits it could bring to the elderly.
The findings will be revealed at Cambridge University’s Festival of Ideas next Tuesday.
A spokesman for Longfield Care Home said: “You just look forward to seeing the adults with the children and their interaction and all the different activities.
“It’s really lovely to see – I think it’s very positive.
“The home seems to come alive and they bring out the best in the adults.”
