AN annual fun run has had to be cancelled this weekend due to predicted bad weather conditions.

Organisers of the Maldon Bubble Rush were sad to announce the event is being postponed.

The race was due to take place this Sunday (October 13).

A spokesman said: “Following recent heavy rainfall and predicted adverse weather conditions, we have decided that the safety of the route for participants has to be our primary concern.

“This decision has not been taken lightly, as we were really looking forward to seeing over 1,000 participants running through the bubbles this weekend.

“We are very sorry if we have caused you any inconvenience by postponing this event.

“We hope you understand that we have made this decision to ensure that you are able to have the best and safest experience of Bubble Rush possible.

“We really want you to have lots of fun, and with the new date, there is even the possibility of some better weather.”

However, organisers have lined up a new date for the race which will now take place in 2020.

All existing participant registrations will be automatically transferred to the new date of Saturday, June 20, 2020.
