SHOPPERS grabbed some festive bargains early at a charity fair.

Maldon’s Action Medical Research hosted the gift fair at Layer Marney Tower.

Stall holders were selling unique wares and money raised went to the charity.

Volunteers from the Maldon Committee of Action Medical Research helped out.

Organiser Tracy Stratford said it was a great day.

She said: “It was fantastic, we had been keeping an eye on the weather but the rain held out. We had about 300 people which was better than last year, so we were really pleased.

“The money is still being counted and I’m excited to find out how much has been raised.”

Guests were treated to coffee and cake on arrival and lots of stalls were dotted around the historic venue for people to look at.

There was a cheese and pie man, a shoe stall, jewellery, gadgets and children’s toys, a gin man, floristry and clothing.

Volunteers were also selling the charity’s Christmas cards.
