A MALDON rally driving star is helping to challenge people’s perceptions of Essex by starring in a new calendar.

Nabila Tejpar was chosen to feature in the Essex calendar as part of a campaign organised by tourism promoter Visit Essex.

The calendar will break down stereotypes of Essex by showcasing the county’s “real stars” and our striking and diverse landscapes and hidden gems.

Nabila was chosen to represent Essex following a call for performers, scientists, sportsmen and women, chefs, entrepreneurs and community heroes to step forward.

Visit Essex vice-chairman Mark Durham said: “We were flooded with nominations by the people of Essex to take part in this campaign.

“The calendar is just the start and we are actively working to provide a role for each nominee.

“Nabila Tejpar is a fine example of the hard-working talent we have in our county.”

The calendar aims to appeal to the rest of the country as a place to visit, work, live and invest.

Mr Durham added: “We’re all aware of the Essex stereotype and it’s time we made a difference.

“We need people to take a second look at our diverse county.

“Essex is blessed with over 350 miles of coastline, top family attractions, thriving towns and villages, plus excellent universities.

“The people are pretty extraordinary too – we have so much to offer.”

Images from the campaign will also be featured in a pop-up gallery which is expected to tour the county and be officially unveiled in London.
