POLICE are investigating a late-night burglary which may have resulted in a car being abandoned and burnt-out in the woods.
The incident at Budgens in Stock high street happened earlier today (October 7) at 1.30am.
A spokesman said: “A cash machine was stolen from the front of the shop.
“A group of four to five people were reported to have been seen.
“They left in two vehicles - one described as a red Ford Ranger and the other as a small car - and drove off in the direction of Billericay.
“A Ford Ranger was later found burned out in woodlands off Witham Road, Wickham Bishops, shortly before 3.40am.
“We are treating the incidents as linked.
“No arrests have been made and we are continuing our enquiries.”
