DOCTORS, volunteers and patients from across the Maldon district have been nominated for this year’s ‘Marvels of Mid’ awards.

The Mid Essex NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), which run the awards, has invited members of the public to celebrate the great work local health workers carry out.

Among those nominated is Dr Sally Dowler from Longfield Medical Centre, Maldon, who won the primary care award last year.

Other primary care award nominees include Dr Krish, of Kingsway Surgery, South Woodham Ferrers, and Dr Lim from Blackwater Medical Centre, in Maldon.

CCG chairman Dr Anna Davey said: “Members of the public are very welcome to join us for our annual general meeting and find out more about our work over the past year and plans for the future.

“I am also excited that the CCG is once again honouring local people – saying thanks for the great work that is being done to support community health and well-being services right here in mid Essex.

“As always, we have received a lot of incredibly strong and heart-warming nominations, and the finalists for these awards come from all sectors of the community.

Lauren Webber, of Dengie Community First Responders, and Sara Kettely, of Maldon and District CVS, were nominated for volunteer of the year.

Dr Davey added: “It demonstrates the commitment and enthusiasm local people have to helping others live well.”

Many others from the area have also been nominated for awards in other categories, including the patient participation, unsung hero, and stay well awards.

The meeting will take place on Thursday, from 6.30pm to 8pm at Chelmsford Civic Centre.
