A BREWERY is on the lookout for someone who can brew beer in their spare time thanks to a boost in funding.

The Pumphouse Community Brewery in Toppesfield are looking for a part-time assistant brewer to start from October.

The Prince’s Countryside Fund has agreed to provide funding to the brewery over a three-year period from next month.

This will help to increase the employment of young head brewer Aaron Osborne from three days a week to five.

A spokesman said: “As a not-for-profit organisation, one of Pumphouse’s key objectives, apart from making good quality, affordable beer, is to provide rural employment and volunteering opportunities – hence the new role.

“Full training will be given, enabling the successful applicant to learn all the key skills associated with developing, creating and marketing fine ales. The assistant brewer will work directly with our head brewer and a friendly and committed team of volunteers.”

Pumphouse supplies beer to the community-owned Green Man pub, in Toppesfield, and to pubs, clubs and private functions in north Essex.
